„Der himbeerrote Drache“ is a children’s book that tells the story of a little dragon who loves to eat raspberries. Due to his overconsumption of them, his skin has the color of a raspberry, whilst the other dragons are all green. They make fun of, and bully him for this difference, and the story explores the emotions the little Dragon goes through trying to fit in with the group.

The collection is largely inspired by the concepts and symbols in the book. Different techniques such as smoking are used to create textures and alter the fabrics surface in ways that fit thematically, creating for example dragon scales or the texture of a raspberry.

The color palette displays the idea of bringing two opposites together, using the complementary colors red and green. The colors are bright which gives the collection a youthful and almost childish look, relating back to the children’s book as an inspiration.

Like the book, the collection discusses exclusion of an individual from a group and bullying due to external differences and wants to remind the audience of the importance of overcoming those differences and working together to build a community that everybody is welcome in.
